RECOVERY DAY
SIMONE DOULAVERAS
As a young dancer, recovery was by far the hardest thing for me to wrap my head around. Stretching was just for flexibility, meditation was not my bag and I thought I could “recover” with a big glass of red after a gig.
My body reflected this. I was holding onto stress, and therefore weight.
We recommend one active recovery day each week. As your Yin expert and resident yogi Megan says: “You need the Yin to your Yang Loft workouts.”
So, what do we do on our recovery day? You should be moving slower on this day, but not so slow that you don’t move off the lounge! Here are some things you can do to help your body recover:
A short walk
Stretch session on The Loft On Demand
Meditation
These recovery activities are often overlooked, but they are just as important as your normal workouts.
So, take some time each week to engage your body in something slow and restorative activities and get excited to zen out!
